WINESIONARIES 2017-2019
Aytac Yariktas
"I see wine as a cultural object. The beverage offers us an opportunity of a better comprehension about social constructions circulating around itself. In a glass, it is possible to find answers about how the daily habits, traditions, perceptions, celebrations, heritage, history and anthropology are expressed. |

"I had been looking for a wine master program for a while, but none of the options seemed a good fit. And then one day I found Wintour, with its great combination of technical knowledge, market-wise perspective and practical approach. It was a match! |

Carolina Abreu "I have always been a lover of the most diverse forms of art and during my Viticulture and Enology course I felt in love with this one: It blends hard work and wisdom of all the ones involved, beginning with the grape growers. The personal perceptions during the elaboration process from the enologist, the one managing wine's endless complexity, recognizing aging potential, or the art of blending to keep the high quality level. Not less important, all moments and memories though this path are worth enough. |

"Robert Louis Stevenson said "Wine is bottled poetry", Dali said "It requires a mad man to grow the vine, a wise man to watch over it, a lucid poet to make it, and a lover to drink it" Pablo Neruda wrote an Ode to it, and we agree! Because it is nature, science, technology, craftsmanship, tradition, heritage, history, geography, gastronomy, pleasure, culture and art all together, that make wine so fascinating. Already in the second semester, I know WINTOUR is providing me with all I need to make sure that my oenophilia gets absolutely contagious in the future. Because this is my plan, to communicate the beautiful world of wine, to share the passion, to create more wine lovers!" |

"I always remember making plans for my next trip while enjoying a glass of wine, and while still being on my current trip. Wine tourism was my favorite pastime until the moment I found out about WINTOUR, and then, it became much more. It is turning from a hobby into a beautiful, future career. |

"When I started my previous studies in gastronomic sciences, I realized that the key place, where the magic happens, is not in the bottle of wine. The 'miracle' started long ago, when the harvester picked up carefully every bunch of grapes... Having the opportunity to travel around three of the most well reputed wine countries, knowing the terroir of every region, and even more important, meeting who's behind the final product; has been the decisive argument for me to take part of this amazing program. |

"A wine-tourism crossover master? Who came up with this brilliant program? I love wine, I love to travel. There is no reason why I should not apply for it. Here I am, Wintour 2.0! I have been asked many times, "Are you really studying?" Although it seems that we keep drinking and traveling, we actually have been profiting from the hands-on experiences. The program offers many opportunities to taste wines, visit cellars and heritage sites, learn from professors and scholars, and meet with professionals from tourism and wine industries. |

"Why WINTOUR?... for me, there is no reason why not. To marry your passion and skills into one profession, this is a life long aim for most people, and sometimes they never get there. I know I am achieving this aim through WINTOUR. It was the ideal next-step to reorient my career from international hotel marketing towards my passion for wine and my entrepreneurial goals in wine tourism. No other masters program provides this level of hands-on, experiential learning specifically attuned to the field of wine tourism, all within the context of steeping yourself in the local cultures of three of the world's most fascinating wine capitals. Most importantly, I have already fostered what I know will be life-long connections with other passionate and talented students and professionals who matriculate from all over the world. This is priceless...this is WINTOUR." |

"Wine world is magical place and being there is privilege for me. I wanted to become part of wine family that unites every wine enthusiast around the world. I was inspired by Georgian winemakers who followed their passion and were happy with it. I started searching programs to fulfill my dream. And this is how I found WINTOUR. What I like in this program is that I can make decisions about my internships independently. WINTOUR is possibility to work with best wineries and wine makers, visit famous wine destinations and get involved in world wine tourism. I highly recommend WINTOUR to everyone who is searching a way to fulfill their knowledge in wine and tourism." |

"Arts are creations made to express a vision about the world! Frank Lloyd Wright said: "Art is a discovery and development of elementary principles of nature into forms suitable for human use". I see wine as the resource through which the winemaker expresses his culture, ideas, values; and the customers interpret all this when they drink the wine. In the moment a person sees the colour, smells the aromas and taste the wine, an instant and invisible connection between the drinker and the winemaker is created. That person will be transported into a small vineyard in Priorat, a prestigious Château in Bordeaux or a modern cellar in the US, forgetting about the present. Picasso said "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls" and I think that is exactly what happens when someone drinks wine. It doesn't matter if you are in a meeting with friends or in a professional tasting, you forget about the world for a while and just enjoy. I chose this master because I think wine tourism helps people to understand better what winemakers want to express through their products and allows them to experience and give more value to this magic world of wine." |
