WINTOUR intake 2016-2018 begins
From September 5 to September 8 the WINTOUR Consortium organized a unique multi-day series of events focused to give the very best welcome to all of our new students. WINTOUR Welcome Week included institutional welcome presentations by Dr. Joan Miquel Canals (Dean of URV's Faculty of Oenology), Dr. Gemma Beltran (General Coordinator of the master), and the Vice-rector for Internationalisation Dr. Mar Gutiérrez-Colon.
Students also visited the Faculties where WINTOUR classes are taught (Faculty of Oenology and Faculty of Tourism and Geography), as well as the Library facilities in each campus. Winesionaries also enjoyed some social agenda events which gave them the opportunity to visit Tarragona's Roman Heritage and the city of Reus, the place where Gaudí architect was born, and live firsthand Catalan cultural traditions.
September 12 students started formally the course, taking Adaptation to Oenology and Adaptation to Geography and Economics optative subjects. Throughout these first days of teaching, they have had the chance to learn about Oenology and Viticulture in practice, participating in the harvest at Faculty of Oenology winery Mas dels Frares. Likewise they have participated in a fieldtrip to Terra Alta, one of the emergent wine producing areas in Catalonia.
